Back in time

Remember when you were a brand new mommy? You had all this youthful enthusiasm about parenting and being the best for your little ones.
The best thing about having a two yo boy right now at age 40 is that I get to re-tap into all the loveliness of early mommyhood. Sharing in his wonder, watching him trying to figure out how something works, watching him try to catch dust particles. Yes!!! Having this little one's magic in my life right now is the perfect time and place.

Darn!

On Saturday we did a beautiful home wedding out at the Bowen's. I went to get my camera out so I could take a few pics and found it was smashed. The LED screen is ruined. It won't hook up to my computer at all. I could still take pics and get them off the card but.....there is no view finder thingy on the camera sooooo it would be like potluck. The most discouraging thing was that I have only had it a few months and I was just really figuring out all the little buttons and adjustments. Oh well. darn.

So the economy stimulus checks are already rolling out....but with gas prices as high as they are I guess that is where everyone is going to be spending it. Pay for gas to get to the jobs to pay for gas. I think we are going to fix up everyone's bikes and re-stock the special stuff for our food storage.

I thought we had made it through April without the allergy thing catching us but I was wrong. Lyd and Quayde are down. At least Quayde doesn't need O2. Chaiya was a little out of it too. I think she is still tired from playing 'mom' at Megan's. She came home on Sunday and said she wasn't getting married because that leads to children. lol!

I am off to tie sashes for our next wedding reception at the Bennetts this coming weekend. Pear and Periwinkle. Nice spring colors. Yeah!

She's on to me....

Chaiya is playing mom to the Holdsworth kiddos this weekend. She started last night and had to have them up, fed breakfast, lunches made and ready for the school bus this morning. After her seminary class , she came home and declared she had "mom" hair (normal morning bathroom time is about an hour for this teen). Chaiya stated that she now understood that homeschool was actually a selfish thing and she was definitely doing it with her own children.

I need to get out the camera and take some shots. Blogs are boring without pics! Friday Lydia received her super cool metallic red wheelchair. She loves it. There are a few things I don't like that I need to bring up with the health care place like they promised a seat belt and there isn't one on it!!!!

My book of the month which I am totally engrossed in is by Rebecca Latimer who wrote the book when she was over 90 years old and it's entitled " You're Not Old Until You're 90, Best to be Prepared However". Wise and funny, Mrs. Latimer is an intriguing author. She has kept journals since 1914 and this book includes excerpt from them. What a treasure.

Quayde is gone again at a new friend's house. There is a definite energy difference when he is gone. Quayde is always so good about going and checking the doors and shutting things down when it is time for bed. His favorite bottle of lavender oil is sitting here. He always sleeps so much better with it on each night. I need to get him a travel bottle of his own. He and I have been reading a Crinkleroot book in the evenings. The series of tales about Crinkleroot are great!
I've got to figure out how to keep him and Chaiya from having so many friends...they're gone too much.

Farmer's Market will be starting up again soon! We have been working on a small area in the back yard for gardening. I'm trying to determine if feed and upkeep of chickens is worth the price compared to buying eggs. Our neighbor is a slight concern also!

I have three weddings in the next three weeks so I don't know how often I'll be able to post. Helena found an incredible deal on some exquisite looking floral which I bought tons of and now have to put into arrangements. Thank you Helena!!!!

It is finally getting warm enough for me.

FHE and stomped toes

Last night we had the Hintons and Stevensons over for FHE. Having an extra 6 boys under the age of 8 was fun. Poor Bro. Hinton was trying to give a lesson with Kapla towers crashing all around him. I hope he knows we appreciated his efforts. Adrienne made a yummy almond cake that Chaiya and I ate toooo much of and then we were a tad bit sick later.
Chaiya is almost finished with her ASL class requirements and taught everyone how to sign "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
It was a great evening all around.

On Tuesdays we go to the library. The librarians are very patient people. I'm sure part of them might dread Tuesdays. Miss Joyce and Amadee were re-dressing the giant T-Rex as a princess and placing a lovely tiara on her head. Thayne ran over to see what was up and they joked they were ordering him devil's horns. Well......Miss Joyce might want to put them on overnight express.
She came over and Thayne was laying and rolling all over the floor. We noticed that his sandals and hers were almost identical. Miss Joyce puts out her foot so he can compare and he slides his foot next to hers as if he is checking them out and then stomps really hard on her toes. Everyone was laughing!!! We honestly were trying to hide it but it was so funny. Miss Joyce even laughed and said that perhaps she had asked for that.

So tonight Quayde apparently had a complete melt-down at YM's!!!
When I arrived back home, he was still crying and hiding under his covers in his bed.
I went in to chat with him about what happened. After about an hour and some serious silent prayer offered for help, I was enlightened to what was really going on.
You know..............all of a sudden it dawns on you that you aren't going to be a little kid anymore. That you are growing up and it is really really really scary!
It's hard being the momma and trying to ease the growing pains.
Thank you to Megan!!! He said the chocolate ice cream helped alot. lol

So here is a little catch up. Last month's book of the month was "The Secret of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. She is a great author and has written several wonderful books. I also liked her "Dance of the Dissident Daughter" years ago.
Apparently there is a movie in the making, so quickly read the book cause you know how movies often change from the book. I finished this book in less than a day. So I did read two other books during the month that Kristi loaned me but they haven't impressed me like this one did. I think I am at a place in my life where I need to read for enjoyment and not to have books demand action of me. Sometimes action can be delivered quietly in a novel.

This last week was also a Dr. Shindell visit. I think he is getting weary of my diatribe and battle formations. He agreed to talk to Dr. Ain who has experience with campomelic kids. He actually hugged me as we were leaving. Maybe he's afraid of me. I think I would be.

We are gearing up for the wedding season. It was a nice break to focus on family and relaxing the last couple of months but it's time to pay the bills. Darn those electric and gas companies!

Conference was wonderful today!!! It was nice to hear the talks. I loved the one on personal revelation and many things said touched my heart.

We are off on a new week. I will be in Phoenix all day tomorrow. Doctors and wedding clients. Looking forward to being warm. I just can't seem to get warm enough yet. Spring is here but I am still cold. The apple tree out front just burst with blooms in the last two days and it looks beautiful through the front window.
I am now going to search for something wonderful to make for dinner. Maybe pasta , it's always easy!
