May Birthdays

Once upon a time I thought it would be a great idea to conceive in August then have my babies in May and skip all those hot summer months. What I didn't have was the forethought of how full the month of May would get and how fast it would rush by each year. Chaiya, Lydia and Maliea... my three beautiful girls are the sparks in my life. They make me laugh, pull out my hair at times and feel joy in amazing ways. This month was full of really big smiles as we celebrated.

We sent off special wishes on mini hot air lanterns for Chaiya. As the gentle breeze lifted the lanterns across the still waters of the Patuxant river, there was magic in the air. We watch with a bit of awe as they became more distant until their lights vanished. Maliea's lantern did not make it off the cliff and laughter was our highlight as we valiantly rescued the burning inferno. It was such a magical way to celebrate Chaiya's 21st birthday.

Lydia really wanted to go to an American Girl store and we found one that opened recently near DC.  A week before her birthday we attended a little get together with our property's caretaker and his extended family. Apparently Lydia made quite the impression on Tony's sister and his family that evening. Nancy sent a $50 gift card to Lydia to use at the American Girl store. Lydia was beyond excited to be able to go. American Girl dolls and accessories are a little on the high end of the price scale. I actually located Lydia's doll a few years ago at a Goodwill store. It was definitely a manifestation of the best kind. She really had a great time getting her doll's ears pierce and spending time at the doll spa. She also picked a few trendy outfits to update her doll's wardrobe. The was the first year that Lydia was able to blow out all her candles without plugging her nose or having help. Huge happiness triumph! Happy 12th birthday Lydia.

Maliea hasn't had a birthday party in so very long so it was time to celebrate with friends! We sent the theme for a luau and started planning. The area we made for the littles sandbox was just perfect for Maliea's party!
She wanted cheesecake instead of a birthday cake and we thought sparklers would be so perfect to use instead of candles. We had hula games and coconut bras.

Hawaiian bbq, shrimp, fruit kabobs, and lots of fun! We had Hawaiian music and homemade music as well. I think Maliea really had a lot of  fun with her friends. It was so nice to be able to give Maliea a party with friends that love her. Happy 24th Birthday Maliea! You are such a joy in our lives.

My sweet girls... Happy Birthday month! I love you all so very much you all brighten my life. I am so happy to be your mum!
